Chapter History

On Saturday, June 10, 2000, the Iota Gamma Sigma Chapter was chartered at the home of Pearlie R. Woods by the Regional Director, Jackie Mays. There were six determined sorority sisters who were committed to uplifting the sorority's vision in the Athens Area and surrounding counties where they resided. The Charter members are as follows: Kimberly Arnold, Chenee Daniels, Alicia Finnell, Naomi Glenn, Pamela Lafuente, and Pearlie Woods (deceased).

Since the inception, the chapter has sponsored programs such as: annual Youth Symposiums, Operation Big Bookbag, Miss Rhomania Scholarship Pageant, HIV/AIDS Townhall Meeting, St. Jude's Walk, AIDS Walk, March of Dimes, and numerous community service outreach programs aimed to uplift the local youth and citizens of nearby counties.

The Iota Gamma Sigma Chapter currently advises the undergraduate chapter at the University of Georgia (Lambda Delta Chapter).
